Slot was on media duties ahead of Liverpool's pre-season tour in the US and was quizzed on the future of right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold. The England international has been linked with a move to Real Madrid at the end of his contract, which is set to expire in 2025. Alexander-Arnold has struck up a close friendship with Jude Bellingham, who enjoyed a successful debut campaign in Spain.

When asked if he was worried about his defender's future on Merseyside and whether he get a new contract over the line, Slot said: "My answer will probably be a bit boring, I think it is the same answer you have heard in the last five, six, seven years. That contract situation is not discussed at this place, but just keep trying I would say!"
